From 1 July 2026, the EU’s RoHS exemption for lead in copper alloys no longer covers parts of consumer equipment a child could put in its mouth, unless tests show they release little lead. Tarnwick is fictional. Choose any product to see the evidence.

Product safety rules reach electrical goods, construction products, toys and machinery alike. Each sector page opens on the changes Foresight is tracking for a typical company in it.

What product safety teams ask

What does Foresight watch in product safety?

The EU’s General Product Safety Regulation and its Safety Gate alerts, the New Legislative Framework and the planned European Product Act, RoHS, the Cyber Resilience Act and the Batteries Regulation. In the US, CPSC rules, Proposition 65 and California’s Safer Consumer Products. Great Britain’s Product Regulation and Metrology Act, toy safety rules and UK RoHS, and the consumer product laws of Japan, Hong Kong and Thailand. The cosmetics rules of the EU, Great Britain, the US, China, Korea, Japan, ASEAN and India. The rules for toys, childcare products, furniture, jewellery, tattoo inks, aerosols, fireworks, food contact materials, electrical and electronic equipment, machinery, personal protective equipment, pressure equipment, gas appliances, lifts, construction products and medical devices. Foresight also follows recalls, market surveillance, fire safety, product liability and new and withdrawn standards across markets.

How does Foresight know which changes matter to us?

You name your products, what goes into them and the markets you sell into. Foresight scores each change against them and says why it was flagged, such as “You track lead, and the EU is one of your markets.” A portfolio impact assessment goes further and checks a change against each of your products.

Does Foresight follow recalls?

Yes. Foresight watches regulators’ recall and enforcement notices, including the EU’s Safety Gate alerts, and brings what changes there to your team as alerts.

Where does the evidence come from?

From the official source: the official journal, the regulator’s notice or the standards body’s announcement. Every alert and every project result links to the document it rests on, so your team can check the wording directly.

Who signs off a project’s results?

The person you name at your organisation. In a project, nothing is final until they sign it off, and each result opens on the evidence behind it.

How do we start?

Book a demo and bring your products and markets. The Foresight team will show you what is changing for them. You see a project’s scope and price before it starts.
