About Foresight
Our story
Foresight was born from years of seeing the same problem inside some of the world's most highly regulated industries: chemical policy moves fast, and organisations are expected to keep pace with tools that were never designed for the job.
Our co-founder, Steven Brennan, learned this the hard way.
Where the problem became impossible to ignore
Steven began his career in aerospace and defence, working as a materials engineer on Rolls-Royce's REACH programme. It was there he saw the scale and complexity of regulatory change up close:
- constant waves of new restrictions, authorisations and proposals,
- deeply embedded chemistries like chromates with no simple substitutes,
- and global manufacturing processes held together by spreadsheets, emails and manual trackers.
Across trade associations like the International Aerospace Environmental Group, he saw the same pattern everywhere: teams drowning in information, spending huge effort simply trying not to miss something important.
Later, in consultancy, the picture was no different. Whether supporting REACH registrations, building substitution programmes, or managing consortia, organisations were still struggling with fragmented regulatory sources, thousands of pages of unstructured documents, and no reliable way to connect policy changes to their real products, materials or operations.
The frustration that led to Foresight
Steven built his own databases and tools over the years to fill the gaps, but they were always stopgaps. The real pain was clear:
Regulatory teams weren't short on expertise. They were short on time, structure and visibility.
What they needed was a way to automatically process regulatory information, map it to their business, and give teams one shared place to understand and act on change.
Turning experience into a platform
Foresight began with that simple idea: take the manual, fragmented, high-risk work of chemical policy monitoring and turn it into a structured, collaborative system.
Today, Foresight:
- monitors global chemical policy developments,
- extracts substance information from unstructured documents,
- links regulatory updates directly to products and materials,
- and gives product stewardship and regulatory teams a workspace to assess impact, collaborate and maintain an audit trail.
Our purpose
Foresight exists to help industry stay ahead of regulatory change—not by replacing expertise, but by giving experts the clarity, structure and signal they need to act with confidence.
It's software shaped entirely by people who have lived the challenges inside industry, built for teams who deserve better tools to meet the demands of modern chemicals policy.
