EU Pesticide Approval Extensions Update 21 Active Substances

Update, 20 October 2026. Pyraclostrobin has since been renewed. The July extension described below is historical and no longer supplies its approval expiry date.

The European Commission extended approval periods for 21 pesticide active substances through Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/1826. It was adopted on 28 July, published on 29 July and entered into force on 1 August 2026.

July Extension Decisions

The regulation covered aclonifen, amisulbrom, Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain MBI 600, beflubutamid, clomazone, cyantraniliprole, cyprodinil, daminozide, dichlorprop-P, dimethachlor, fludioxonil, formetanate, fosetyl, isofetamid, metalaxyl, metazachlor, penconazole, phenmedipham, pirimicarb, pyraclostrobin and S-abscisic acid.

The July act originally set dates ranging from 15 December 2026 to March 2030. Renewal procedures were still ongoing when it was adopted. An extension continued an existing approval period; it did not itself decide renewal.

Subsequent Pyraclostrobin Renewal

Regulation (EU) 2026/1976, adopted on 8 September and published on 9 September, subsequently renewed pyraclostrobin. It applies from 1 October 2026 and sets approval until 30 September 2041, subject to its conditions.

The July list records those extension decisions rather than a consolidated schedule of current approvals. Active-substance approval is also distinct from national authorisation of individual plant-protection products and their permitted uses.
