EFSA Seeks Feedback on Overhaul of Weight of Evidence and Biological Relevance Guidance
EFSA launches consultation on updating its Weight of Evidence and Biological Relevance guidance, aiming to streamline chemical risk assessment practices.

The European Commission has issued a corrective decision on 24 January 2025, amending the reference values for hydrofluorocarbon producers and importers in the EU. This decision, effective from 1 January 2025, addresses errors in the previous Implementing Decision (EU) 2024/2767, ensuring compliance with Regulation (EU) 2024/573.
The Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2025/126 was necessitated by inaccuracies in the earlier decision regarding the lawful placement of hydrofluorocarbons on the market. The corrections apply to the period from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2026, aligning with the regulatory framework established by Regulation (EU) 2024/573. This regulation governs fluorinated greenhouse gases, aiming to mitigate environmental impacts.
The decision rectifies several errors, including incorrect addresses and the removal of entities lacking valid registration in the F-gas Portal. Notably, two undertakings that merged prior to the original decision have been consolidated into a single entity, with their reference values adjusted accordingly. Additionally, a new undertaking has been added to the list, reflecting its rightful inclusion.
The corrected reference values are crucial for producers and importers, as they determine the lawful market placement of hydrofluorocarbons. Companies such as QUZHOU JUSHARE CHEMICAL CO., LTD, represented by NAVIS INTERNATIONAL TRADE AND CONSULTING OÜ, and TLENSPAW S.C. in Poland, are directly affected by these changes. The decision ensures that only compliant entities are recognised, promoting fair competition and adherence to environmental standards.
Hydrofluorocarbons are potent greenhouse gases, and their regulation is vital for achieving the EU's climate goals. The corrected decision supports the EU's commitment to reducing emissions and transitioning to more sustainable alternatives. By ensuring accurate reference values, the Commission reinforces the integrity of the regulatory process and the importance of compliance.
