EU Ministers Press Commission on Delayed REACH Revision Amid Industry and Environmental Demands
EU Member States urge the Commission to accelerate the REACH revision, citing urgent health, environmental, and industry competitiveness needs.

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has released IUCLID version 8.13.2 on 11 November 2024, focusing on a range of enhancements and fixes designed to improve user experience, data entry functionality, and compatibility across multiple regulatory frameworks.
The new version addresses critical issues that improve IUCLID’s performance and user interface. Key fixes include restoring document comparison features, resolving text wrapping issues, and correcting CSV phrase identification during uploads. Additionally, the REST API’s data protection handling has been aligned with the actual document definitions, enhancing data integrity for integrated systems.
IUCLID v8.13.2 has implemented improvements for streamlined data entry. Users now have access to full-screen mode in rich text fields, an upgraded date-picker, and a reordering feature for multi-reference fields. Legal entity selection is now automatically set in dossier headers, simplifying dossier creation and management processes.
For users working within EU-specific frameworks, the release provides targeted upgrades:
Technical upgrades include a Java upgrade to version 11 and an overhaul of IUCLID’s authentication system. These changes provide a stronger foundation for security but may affect compatibility with third-party tools. Users of IUCLID-integrated systems are advised to check compatibility before updating to the latest version.
The service release introduces two new reports: a data waivers list for dataset transparency and an analytical methods table for PPP documents. The improvements also extend to the SPC reports, enhancing the layout and resolving display issues, such as text overlaps and incorrect hazard classifications.
IUCLID v8.13.2’s latest upgrades affirm ECHA’s commitment to simplifying regulatory compliance for users, while addressing technical challenges across multiple frameworks. The IUCLID team will hold a webinar on 14 November to delve into these enhancements and answer user queries.
