HSE’s response confirms EU-only recognition and proposes a risk-based biocides call-in model, plus streamlined GB CLP and GB PIC processes.

Biocidal product authorisations in Great Britain (GB) are set to expire for multiple active substances over the coming year. Businesses holding GB Biocidal Products Regulation (GB BPR) product authorisations or Control of Pesticides Regulations (COPR) product approvals must ensure compliance or face revocation.
Diflubenzuron (CAS 35367-38-5, EC 252-529-3) in product type 18.Formaldehyde (CAS 50-00-0, EC 200-001-8) in product type 2.Powdered corn cob (product type 14).Thiamethoxam (CAS 153719-23-4, EC 428-650-4) in product type 18.
Chlorfenapyr (CAS 122453-73-0, EC 602-782-4) in product type 8.
Lauric acid (CAS 143-07-7, EC 205-582-1) in product type 19.Synthetic amorphous silicon dioxide (nano) (CAS 112926-00-8, EC 231-545-4) in product type 18.
Once these approvals lapse, related biocidal products and treated articles cannot be marketed in GB. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) will notify affected holders about cancellations and will consider any feedback provided. Companies are urged to contact HSE if negative impacts from these expirations are anticipated.
